Short biography
Korbinian Grünwald studied history and economic and social history at the University of Vienna and at the Institute for Economic and Social History. Since February 2017, he has been a member of the City and Community. Social Networks in Late Medieval Vienna project and, among other things, acts as a technical coordinator with the project’s cooperation partners (Wien Museum, Vienna City and Regional Archives). From 2017-2022, he was involved in the preparation and execution of the digital transcription of the Viennese ‘Satzbuch Since 2019 he has been a doctoral candidate of Prof. Dr. Christina Lutter with the dissertation project In the City’s Network. Social Groups, Relationship Networks and Interactions in Late Medieval Vienna (1448-1466) and since March 2020 DOC_Fellow of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
His research focuses on the economic and social history of the late Middle Ages and the early modern period (urban history, social topography, scope for action, ‘financial and real estate markets’, foundations) and, methodically, digital editions, databases, mapping and network analysis.
